There is a friendly anglo-french Bridge Club in Pezenas which meet at the Salle Bonnefous, behind the Hotel de Ville, at 2.30pm each Wednesday afternoon and 8pm Friday Evening. Contact, Sylvia Saulnier (0467240115) who speaks good english. The nearest Tennis Club is at Paulhan about 6km north and there's another in Pezenas. Pezenas:
Just 10km to the south on the N9 this town has a delightful and well documented
'Old Town' with well preserved rich merchant's mansions. These often host
exhibitions. This area also contains many workshops selling hand-made goods
as well as the usual tourist items. The Collegiate Church of Saint-Jean houses
a museum of religious artifacts and the 'Confiserie' is a must! The Tourist
Office is in Place Gambetta. There is ample information on Pezenas among the
leaflets at the house.
| There are many restaurants and cafes in Pezenas,
Agde, particularly by the river, Cap d'Agde by the marina, and for seafood
Meze, Bouzigues and Sete. The French have a dedication to food and you
are most unlikely to be disappointed. Those recommended so far include:- Le Conti in Pezenas, rue Conti crispy pizzas and other dishes available. GV. Le Battaleur in Pezenas at the top of Ave Jean Jaures . GV. Pré St. Jean in Pézenas near to the Credit Agricole Bank, excellent food, ambience and service, about 30euros for 3 course meal. La Hacienda near St Thibery. Le Cote Sud at Pezenas, especially for fish, medium price range. La Guinguette - from Agde take road towards Marseillan, just after canal bridge turn left into driveway into woods, keep left, restaurant in is the open air by the canal. Traditional accordion music and dancing in the summer. Check open first. There is a vietnamese restaurant in Pezenas, next on left after rue Conti. |
