May is the best month for apple blossom, June for poppies and September for blackberries and apples. The local wildlife is abundant. It is worth taking a pair of binoculars as there are many species of birds including buzzards and kestrels and hummingbirds regularly feed on the flowers surrounding the houses. Dinner on the patio is usually accompanied by the sound of crickets and birdsong. There are lots of mice and moles in the acre of grounds and a wild boar has even been spotted in the adjacent field, usually occupied by wide-eyed Normandy cows.

Local attractions include Camembert village (10 mins), Falaise castle (birthplace of William the Conqueror 20 mins), surprise water garden at the chateau of Vendeuvre (20 mins), Battle of Normandy museum (10 mins) and the ‘Versailles of Horses’ stud farm (20 mins).

Trun (5 mins) is the local market town. The nearest hypermarkets are in Vimoutiers (10 minutes), Argentan (12 mins) and Falaise (20 mins) where there are also some superb restaurants.

There is an outdoor leisure park and tennis courts at Vimoutiers, indoor swimming pools at Falaise and Argentan and several local riding schools and rambling routes.
