The Old House accommodates 4+ guests
Kermavio is a small farming hamlet consisting of one dairy farm, one arable farm, three private houses and us, all clustered together with fields radiating in all directions. It is almost completely surrounded by trees, beyond which there are stunning views across the fields to distant villages and tree-clad hills beyond. A break in the trees allows some of the views to be seen from our gardens.
Our prices include gas, electricity, water, a weekly laundry service ( The Old House is equipped with a washing machine) and use of barbecues. A boules court and undercover parking are provided and the large lawn and gardens are for the benefit of all guests.
The only extras are the ones you choose – linen hire, a professional final clean and/or port collection and return. Please ask for details.
We will be happy to do some basic shopping for you at cost. If you have any special requirements, please let us know and we will do our best for you.

In many ways, The Old House is the antithesis of The Cider House and The Shippern in that very few rooms are on the same level. The Old House has been completely renovated and modernised. The furniture, on the other hand, is an eclectic mix of ancient and modern, giving it a homely, lived-in, feel. There are very few doors, which adds to the feel of spaciousness. However, the downside is that the bedroom is not private as one climbs the stairs to the shower room. None of our previous guests have found this a problem. With the exception of the rear lobby, all the windows are double-glazed and The Old House is centrally heated. So our guests during the cooler time of year will have a warm, comfortable base to return to. A sunny patio area with garden furniture is to the front of The Old House. The eccentric layout is essentially a one double bedroomed house, although two further guests can be accommodated on either a double sofa-bed or twin Z-beds in the upstairs study. The cosy living room with three seater sofa and easy chairs, features an inglenook fireplace with a small, pretty woodburner. A chestnut staircase leads to the large double bedroom with its polished wood floors and wonderful views across fields. There is ample room for a single bed if required. The good-sized shower room is (almost) en-suite. |
Steps down from the living room lead through a low, granite, Napoleonic arch to the kitchen/dining room. The well equipped built-in kitchen, which was new in 1999, has acres of cupboard space, a double bowl sink, fridge, gas hob with hood above, built-in mini-oven and microwave, coffee maker and, of course, a kettle! Lights fitted beneath the wall units illuminate tiled work surfaces. The pine doors compliment the antique glass fronted dresser and the huge pine surrounded fireplace. The table will seat six with ease.
| A door leads from the kitchen into the back lobby, which houses the freezer. Off this are the downstairs WC and the utility room with washing machine. A further door leads out into the small, private rear garden. From the kitchen, a second staircase climbs steepishly to the upstairs study with its plethora of roof timbers, sloping ceilings and library. |
