Cleguerec is less than three kilometres away and has two smallish supermarkets, (one of which has diesel and petrol pumps), restaurants, bars, banks and boulangeries - all you need for day to day living. During the Summer months, a Tourist Information Centre is open. The pretty central square has one of only 16 Statues of Liberty in France. (It is a little smaller than the one across the Atlantic!) There is a huge selection of lakes and rivers for freshwater fishing. A 10lb common carp was caught by one of our guests in the little lake between Kermavio and Cleguerec. |
The Nantes-Brest canal towpath, only minutes away, allows traffic-free walking and cycling.
| An easy twenty minute drive away, through glorious countryside, is the Lac de Guerledan. Set amid trees, it has two small sandy beaches and offers an abundance of watersports. Napoleonic Pontivy is some 10km south east of us and has a wider selection of shops, restaurants and cafes. The medieval towns of Josselin, Auray and Vannes, just oozing with history, are all about an hour away. Sene, just south of Vannes, is a birdwatchers' paradise. Being almost in the centre, we are less than two hours from the furthest point of Brittany's 750 miles of coastline. In short, Kermavio is the ideal spot for the countryside lover. Our beautiful corner of Brittany is like stepping back forty years. If you want a star studded cast and night life, then step out of your door and look up! |
