If you want tranquility and an escape from the frenetic activity of the "rat race", the Charente is the place for you.

Chez Gouraud is situated in the Charente which is a rural and unspoilt area of France where you feel as though you have "stepped back 50 years". This is an area where the pace of life is slow, traffic jams are most often caused by tractors and elderly 2 CV vans.

This part of France was liberated by English paratroopers during the war and the more elderly inhabitants still feel gratitude for that help. The local inhabitants are friendly, courteous and usually willing to gossip if you speak French.

As members of Brittany Ferries Property Owners Club, we are able to offer a limited number of vouchers providing a discount on Brittany Ferries cross-channel fares. These are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Please note we do not accept any pets.

Maid service may be available by agreement at an extra cost.
Linen extra. If required, please state requirements and we will give you a quote.
Where extra charges arise, these should be paid by departure directly to our nominated representative.
Le Buisson is a farming hamlet of about half a dozen houses situated a few minutes drive from the small villages of Ansac-sur-Vienne and Manot. Manot has a small village shop and the meat van calls there and parks in the market place. There is also a small bar/café. Ansac has a boulangerie, butcher, supermarket, chemist, hairdresser and petrol garage. Built of local stone, Chez Gouraud is a typical small Charentaise farmhouse with a multitude of exposed beams, a small barn at one end and a roof covering the terrace at the other. The house is situated at the end of a single-track lane at the edge of the hamlet with views over neighbouring fields at the front and over the field belonging to the house at the back. There is an abundance of wild life.
