This charming 17th century stone house is situated in a peaceful hamlet - Les Serailleres - in the south of the picturesque Vienne Valley (just north of the Charente border.) It is 14km from the medieval town of Confolens. Even closer you find the market town of L'Isle Jourdain, just 8km, but right on the door step (4km), is the village of Availles Limousine The house is said to have been built for the local noble man, in the late 1600's with the attached property (currently the owners residence) being built during the 1800's. There is a pond (which is fenced off for safety) that was used to hold the fish caught in the river until they were to be cooked.

The site itself has been around far longer and there is a stone table in the garden that was used in a place of worship, by pre Christian settlers. The property is spacious & sleeps 6 in comfort (3 bedrooms, one with en suite plus a main shower room). It has been tastefully renovated to reveal many of its original features. The property is suitable for both summer & winter stays.

In the lounge there are beautiful original beams. Three of the walls are painted stone with their rugged shape & texture. The final wall into the kitchen exposes some of the wattle and daub that was used to make up the house over 400 years ago. The tall fire place is now fitted with a log burner to keep you warm on long winter nights. There is a colour TV, radio/cassette/CD player plus games and books provided.
