A view of the pool from the north. The large garden is about the size of a mini football field, plenty of room for the younger guests to play. There are six bicycles for your use at no extra cost and the country lanes are safe for young children to explore. Aulnay is roughly 6km away where you can go by bike to fetch fresh croissants and bread for breakfast. There is also a vineyard about 15kms away with locally produced wine and cognac. |
The 10 X 5 metre pool is for your exclusive use and has been insulated to keep the water to an agreeable temperature with the sun lounges for you’re convenience.
The garden is not yet mature but there is a lot of colour and plenty of ground for games etc. The top garden is about the size of a mini football pitch. You can play boules, volleyball and badminton and if the weather is not too good there are indoor games for your use plus an extensive video library on hire at a small fee.
There are bicycles for your use and the roads are extremely safe for young children under supervision.
There are a few lovely walks in the area and of course the great fresh air for you to enjoy. In the village of Nuaille- sue- Boutonne there are three bridges where the Boutonne splits into three and there is also a small friendly bar where, if you are thirsty after your rides or walks, you can have refreshments. Attached to the bar is a small shop where you can get emergency supplies.
We provide all linen and towels you need for the gite and swimming pool at no extra charge.
SURROUNDING AREA
Although we are rural, the pretty town of Aulnay is just 6kms away with it’s beautiful Roman church. There are three good restaurants in Aulnay and others can be recommended in the surrounding villages.
The town of Saint Jean D’ Angely is just 12 kms away. There is a twice weekly market in S. Jean where you can buy fresh shell fish, cheese meats and all the charcuterie the French people do so well.
There is also the Foret de Chize with the zoo where you can see the animals from a horse drawn cart if you wish and of course just a short distance away are Saintes and Cognac.
We are approximately 30 mins drive from Rochefort and there are some great beaches along the coast road. Royan La Rochelle, Marennes and Ile de Rey with all their wonderful seafood restaurants and beaches are not too far away. Poitiers (Futuroscope) and Angouleme are both an hours drive from here.
