In rolling farmland, the village dates from Roman times and was first written about in the third century. In early medieval times the village was on the pilgrims' way from Saint Michael's Mount to Santiago de Compostela and local houses would have given shelter to the many pilgrims. Being near the crossroads of the N137 and N160 (the Quatre Chemins de l'Oie) the village was important in the counter revolution of 1794.
